“Thank you for your work and making the house look like a chocolate box!”

We are grateful for your expert attention and for getting the work done efficiently and quickly.

“From the moment they quoted we knew we were working with a very professional organisation”

Reuben and his team completed our thatch in late 2020 – from the moment they quoted we knew we were working with a very professional organisation who would do a quality job. Once they started the quality of the work and their team was very evident. The work was completed on time and to a very high standard and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

“Without hesitation, we’d employ RJ Matravers again”

We first engaged R.J. Matravers Ltd. to renew the ridge on our property in 2005 which they undertook effectively, on time, tidily and at a competitive cost.
In 2014, when the rear portion of our roof required complete rethatching we did not hesitate in engaging R.J. Matravers Ltd. to carry out the work which they did over a period of several weeks to our entire satisfaction

“Personable, honest and professional”

I was fortunate to find Reuben Matravers, his team (including terrier dog) via the Internet back in 2016. Reuben in very personable, honest and professional at what he does; a true Master Thatcher. Reuben completed re-thatching of half the roof (prevailing weather side) of my cottage in Somerset during the Summer 2016 advising that the other side had at least 8 years life left. I appreciated that.

“Thank you for putting the majesty back on our roof”

What was left of the old roof has been deposited at the Eco-Station and the huge bag folded and ready to be used as a one off with my grass trimmings…usually five large garden sacks.
My wife and I would like to thank you and the team for repairing and wiring our roof. Success and quality is never an accident. It is always the result of ‘high’ intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution.  Whether climbing ladders or stitching on the roof we hardly knew you were there.  Again, thank you and the team for putting the majesty back on our roof in such a neat and tidy manner.
PS. Thank you Sophie for timely interventions.

“Just to say how pleased we are with the thatching you did”

I just wanted to say how pleased we are with the thatching you did and how lovely we found you all to have around. The guys worked so hard in less than perfect conditions and were always polite when I’m sure they would rather have been anywhere except on our roof!

Many people have commented on how lovely the thatch looks when they walk past – so thank you very much Reuben.

“It was such a pleasure to watch the skill and craftmanship involved”

I am so grateful to RJ Matravers and his team for the new ridge to my existing thatch, which I was advised could perhaps last another 10 years. After the original thatch was cleaned and dressed it blended with the new ridge perfectly and the cottage now looks stunning! It was such a privilege to watch the skill and craftmanship involved and all in such good humour, a real pleasure. Thank you!
